Mailcom and Bulk Email
Pay for Bulk Email and Get Ripped Off

This firms specialty is sending bulk email which advertises bulk email services. If you pay for services from the only mail you will see go out is your the envelope with your money. This fraud is an extremely clever ploy. Bulk email is one of the least expensive forms of advertising. Because of this low relative cost, a tidal wave of deceptive and even many outright fraudulent offers has flooded the Internet.Fraudulent bulk email has become so prevalent that many people have come to view email advertising itself, fraudulent or responsible, as an evil or immoral activity. A number of people have taken it upon themselves to commit illegal acts, such as illegal hacking of servers, against the merchants and providers of bulk email. In this atmosphere of near hysteria, the poor merchant who decides to employ this form of advertising looses some of the normal legal and social protections which are supposedly guaranteed to all. Into this atmosphere steps and offers bulk email services through bulk email to anyone willing to pay normal rates. The only problems is sends little or none of the promised bulk email. They further this scam by demanding only cash or check for their bogus service. They also ask for checks to be transmitted via FAX and thus hope to avoid U.S. Federal laws against fraudulent use of U.S. Postal Mail.

The person or company who is so defrauded often has emotional trouble when considering filing a complaint with the proper authorities. First, the defrauded person finds it difficult to know if the bulk email has or has not been sent. Secondly, the defrauded person may wonder if anyone will listen seriously to his complaint because of the atmosphere surrounding bulk email. The truth of this matter is, bulk email is not illegal in and of itself. The nature of the offer made in a bulk emailing and the manner in which the emailing is conducted determine whether or not it is illegal and immoral. If you have been defrauded by (or anyone else), you can do something about it.

If you paid for it with a check sent through the U.S. Postal Mail, you can report the fraud to the U.S. Postal Inspectors Office (please see our Resources section). You can collect evidence of this fraud by demanding as a term or condition of your bulk email as using the list you provide and then "salting" your list with at lest several email addresses which are hosting by various ISP's. You can ask the email address owners (usually your family, friends and business associates) if they received any of your bulk email advertisements. You can then collect signed statements from these various people attesting to the fact that they received none of your email advertisements.

The bottom line here is, do not pay with cash or check. If a service will not take a credit card, pass on that service.
