Who is Spamhaus Project?
Spamhaus is the trusted authority on IP and domain reputation. For over two decades, researchers, analysts, and threat hunters from around the globe have provided, free of charge, intelligence relating to internet identifiers, e.g., IPs and domains. Working with the broader internet community, we are here to effect change, strengthening trust and safety on the internet.
About Spamhaus Project's Heritage
Originally founded by Steve Linford in London in 1998, Spamhaus Project, a non-profit organization, is now based in Andorra. In the early days of the Project, Steve and like-minded individuals focused on tracking IP addresses that were sending spam, listing them on a DNS Blocklist (DNSBL). Email administrators used this list to filter their emails and still do today.
Over time, the research has expanded to include IPs, domains and ASNs associated with not only spam but also phishing, malware, and ransomware. As requests grew for real-time delivery at volume, we made this data available via a partner, Spamhaus Technology . Our legacy DNS blocklists and DROP lists are still offered today at no cost, along with a host of other free tools.

Our mission to strengthen trust and safety across the internet continues. Further to providing intelligence to filter email and protect networks, we produce reputation data to enable owners of IPs, domains, and ASNs to have visibility on the health (good or bad) of their assets.
We work together with those who are part of the internet ecosystem, helping and assisting organizations who are struggling with abuse of their services, providing advice, and working in tandem with law-makers and enforcers to help make the internet a safer place.
