What's it like to be a spammer?

Vitaliy Dimitrovich Vinogradov, Email Marketer With Focus On Affiliate Marketing
Written Dec 1, 2015
It's stressful, depressing, fun and exciting.

It's very unstable, therefor making it very stressful. One day AOL is accepting all your mail and inboxing (even with their shitty smtp servers), the next you're completely blocked and your making nothing. As for fun and exciting, we have a few parties a year where we meet at conferences, and ofcourse days that do well always put a smile on my face.

I am not exactly a spammer but a "spamvertiser" I focus mostly on emailing Personal Loan and Credit Card advertisements for various affiliate networks. I do around 20-50 Million emails a day focusing on Yahoo and Gmail.

Spamming overall is very lucrative, but it's also getting harder. It has tons of ups and downs which keeps it both exciting and frustrating. The day to day tasks can be compared to many typical jobs, its just sitting in front of a computer. My tasks involve the following:

Creating New Email Templates, Subject Lines, From Names
Buying Domains, Setting DNS, etc
Sorting Data Lists From Third Parties
Removing Complainers
Scheduling Campaigns
Creating Fake Websites
Purchasing Amex Cards

For pay, many people in my field earn $1,000-5,000 a day in revenue going solo, with organized companies doing well over a 2 million a year. Most large "spamvertiser" organizations source their own data and don't focus on email only.

The job has gotten harder since spam filters have gotten more advanced but there is still a lot of money in the spam box. In my opinion, Google, Yahoo and Bing all have interest in delivering "spamvertisements" as they earn a lot off of ads specifically tailored for email marketing.

Overall: Would I recommend getting into this business? Hell no.
